Precise control of valve position is a prerequisite for accurate and efficient control of industrial processes. Providing the electropneumatic interface, valve positioners guarantee fast and accurate control, by eliminating hysteresis and differential pressure effects whilst optimising actuator selection. The Spirax Sarco SP2 loop powered smart positioner enhances these benefits by providing a smart approach to pneumatic control. Designed to be user friendly, the SP2 includes many programmable functions through menu driven embedded software. An integral keypad and digital display enables simple customisation of valve performance to suit the application. The SP2 provides many smart features, including auto stroking of the valve, greatly reducing commissioning costs and eliminating errors. Digital air control ensures accurate positioning with near zero air consumption at set point, reducing running costs. Data logging of valve performance assist maintenance diagnostics, whilst adaptive action helps to compensate for changes in supply air pressure and stem friction. Visibility of the valve performance is important. The SP2 provides continuous visibility through a rotational indicator, plus digital display of % travel.

Air supply The SP2 smart positioner must be provided with a high quality air supply. A Spirax Sarco MPC2 filter regulator with coalescing filter or equivalent must be used. A fixing kit is available to mount the MPC2 filter regulator onto the actuator.
