Engineering Mechanics

This document contains engineering mechanics exam problems from multiple sets. The first problem asks to determine the magnitude and nature of forces in each leg of a tripod supporting a 144N load. The second problem gives two forces and asks to find the resultant force and direction. The document continues providing additional multi-part mechanics problems involving structures like trusses, towers, and tripods under various loads.

Engineering Mechanics/ Class Test II/ 29.02.2012/Set1 1.

Determine the magnitude and nature of forces in each leg of the tripod as shown in fig. supports a load of 144N vertically downwards at A.

2.Two forces F1 =400N acting along the line joining the two points O (0,0,0) and A (4,-1,5)units. F2 =300N acting along the line joining the two points O (0,0,0) and B (5,-3,-8)units. Find the resultant force and its direction.

Engineering Mechanics/ Class Test II/ 29.02.2012/Set 2 1.For the space truss shown in fig, find the nature and magnitude of forces in the members.

2.A tower guy wire is anchored by means of a bolt at A as shown in fig. Tension in the wire is 2500KN. Determine the Components and direction of the forces.

Engineering Mechanics/ Class Test II/ 29.02.2012/Set 3 1.A tripod carrying a load of 5KN in an ocean bet is subjected to a horizontal force of 1KN due to the wave force as shown in fig. Find the forces developed in the legs of the tripod.

2. The tension in the cable AB and AC are 100N and 120N respectively. Determine the magnitude of the resultant force acting on A.
