    1 All about me Teacher's notes


    Aim
    In this lesson, students read e-mails written by three children from different parts of the world England, Nigeria

    and Canada. They compare their own lives with the lives of these children.

    1 Reading
    Put the students in pairs. Ask them to look at the photos and discuss the questions. Ask a few students to share their ideas with the class. Next, read the three e-mails with the students and ask them to check if their answers were correct. Answers 1 Luke and Alex 2 the two boys in the photo with Olivia 3 basketball

    4 Speaking and writing


    Ask the students to make notes about the points in the list. Then put them in pairs and tell them to ask and answer questions about the things in the list. If necessary, elicit the questions students will need to ask before they begin, e.g. How old are you? When is your birthday? Where do you live? How many brothers and sisters do you have? What is your town like? What is your favourite sport/ colour/thing to do? Monitor and help where necessary. Then ask the students to work on their own and write an e-mail about themselves to one of the students in Activity 1. Tell them to use the e-mails in Activity 1 as a model. Remind them to address their e-mail to Olivia, Adisa, or Luke and Alex. Note: The writing stage of this activity could be set as homework.

    2 Comprehension
    Ask the students to read the e-mails again and match questions 18 with answers ah. Ask the students to compare answers in pairs before checking them with the class. Answers 1c 2h 3b 4f 5a 6g 7d 8e

    3 Vocabulary
    Ask the students to complete the table with the words in the box. Monitor and help where necessary. Check answers with the class. Answers sports: football, swimming numbers: eight, ten, twelve countries: Nigeria, Canada, England months: May, June
    Ask the students to think of more words to write in each category in the table. Draw the table on the board and ask individuals to come up and write their answers in the table.
