Cable Handling during Installation

The cable should be pulled or blown with maximum force of 2.5*W Kg(W-Weight of cable per Km) & recommended for the continuous monitoring of the pulling forces. Also ensure during pulling that the maximum bending radius should not be less than 20*D mm (Where D-outer dia of cable).
Laying tension
The maximum allowable tension for the optical fiber cable is specified. Lay the cable within its tension allowance.
Tension after lying
It is advisable not to apply stress to the optical fiber cable for long periods of time. Once the cables have been installed, the tension on the cable should be released for better performance of the cable.
Laying optical fiber cable

Maximum allowable tension of optical cable in order to prevent breakage of fibers and to maintain long term reliability, a maximum allowable tension is set. It is necessary to ensure that this figure in not exceeded during the laying operation. If the estimated tensions of any of the sanctions of the cable exceed the allowable value, the method of laying must be AB altered.
