Evaluate Clock Design2
Evaluate Clock Design2
Date: 4/29/2013
Discuss your answers to the questions (on the left) in a clear and concise paragraph. (Minimum 80 words) The people who answered my survey were, Curtis, Melissa, Yashal, Kenza, Lara and Chantell. I left my clock against the wall so people asked and would go see to test my product, according to the survey I posted in Edmodo. According to the people that answered my survey my product mostly satisfied the design specification., but the problem was that I used my friends design so I couldnt satisfy the design specification completely.
B. Self-testing Discuss your answers to the questions in a clear and concise paragraph. (Minimum 80 words) I think that my partner and I did a good job for our clock, the problem was that I was planning to have a mini shelf on my design, but since we did my partners design the shelf wasnt possible to make, but I think the product was still really good comparing to my specification. The strong points in my design are: I had recycled materials and wood, like it was planned, the weak part is that I think the clock could have been more Mozambican inspired.
B. Self-testing 1. Use the same survey form to evaluate the product yourself. 2. Do you think that your product minimally, mostly or completely satisfy your Design Specification? Explain. 3. Compare your own evaluation with the evaluation of your audience. What are the strong and weak points of your product?
C. Final Product vs. Original Design 1. Did you follow your plan and chosen design? How does the final product compare with your original design? 2. What changes did you make from your original design? What materials, tools, techniques and other resources did you use to make these changes? 3. Why did you have to make these changes in your final product? 4. Did your product effectively address or solve the problem it was intended for? Why or why not? 5. Do you think your product is successful? Why or why not?
C. Final Product vs. Original Design Discuss your answers to the questions in a clear and concise paragraph. (Minimum 80 words) I think Melissa and I followed the plan well, we planned in the design to use dominos to represent the time, which was possible to make and worked nicely and it was also easy for people to understand, which was good. The problem we came across with was that we had planned to make stands for the clock, but we had to change, so we made it hang on the wall, which was easier, we didnt have the stands and it was easier for people to see when it was hanging. The clock worked well and I think the product was good and it covered well its function of telling time.
D. Improving your product Discuss your answers to the questions in a clear and concise paragraph. (Minimum 80 words) When doing a clock next time, I would try to make the background of the clock the colours of the Mozambican flag, so it looks more Mozambican inspired than having a blue background, it looked nice, but I just think that with the Mozambican background it would look more with the theme it is supposed to be. We used wood, plastic, paint, capulana, compass, protractor and we did a lot of cutting, gluing, painting, and simply arranging things and working with batteries.
D. Improving your product 1. What aspects in the design will you change to improve the product? 2. Describe the materials, tools, techniques and skills that you will use next time.
E. Impact of My Product 1. What uses or benefits can your product offer to life, individuals, communities, society and/or the environment? How will it generally improve life? 2. Is it marketable? Can it be sold? Is it profitable? Why or not? 3. What are the possible issues, limitations, constraints, issues or negative effects of using your product to individuals, society and life in general? (Examples: Is it safe to use? Is it environment-friendly? Is it energy efficient? Etc.) 4. How can these issues be resolved? A. My Scoring Guide Create a score guide that you will use to grade your performance in each of the process of the Design Cycle.
Score 0 1 2 3 No work done Not done nicely OK, but can improve Perfectly done
E. Impact of My Product Discuss your answers to the questions in a clear and concise paragraph. (Minimum 80 words) My clock can provide time, which helps people not be late. Since we used dominos it makes so that people have to start thinking faster to tell time by using dominos, which is a different way of telling time, and it is not so common. It could be sold if we made it a bit neater and fixed it a bit, so it would look more attractive and people would want to buy it more and it would not really have problems. I think that the negative problem about the clock is that the edges are really sharp, so it could be dangerous for some people to use, especially for the eye, so the person would need to be very careful when using it. To solve this problem we could just file the edges so it wouldnt the as sharp anymore.

A. Investigate Stage
Score: 2 Score: 1 Score: 2 Score: 2 Discuss the reasons for the score that you gave for yourself for each stage below. What are the strong and weak points of your performance? How can you improve your performance? (Minimum of 80 words for each stage.) In this stage I would give myself a 2, In this stage I would give myself a 1, I think that I did good plan for my work My partner and I did a really good job because I think that I did a good because I did all the designs and and I followed the plan well on the and had a good timing for everything we interview at the craft market and I explanations, but my work was lost in create stage. did. explored well what needed to be done. class when it was on the table.
Score: 3
I think I evaluated my project well, I did a good survey and I answered peoples surveys according to their specification.
