Q No. 4: f(x) =1/x+3

Sol: y=1/x+3
=>x+3=1/y
x = (1/y)-3
=>f(y) = (1/y)-3
=>f (x) = (1/x)-3x.
Now, verify the following conditions,
(i) f(f(x)) =x
=>1/((1/x)-3)+3=x
=> (1/x)-3+3=x
=>x=x.
Hence f(f(x)) =x verified.
(ii) f (f(x))=x
=>(1/1/(x+3))-3=x
=>1/1/x-3+3=x
=>x=x.
Hence f (f(x))=x verified.
Q No. 5: f(x) =3x+2/2x-5
Sol: y=3x+2/2x-5
=>y(2x-5)=3x+2
=>2xy-5y=3x+2
=>2xy-3x=5y+2
=> x(2y-3)=2+5y
=>x=2+5y/2y-3
=>f(y)=2+5y/2y-3
=>f (x)=2+5x/2x-3
Now, verify the following conditions,
(i) f(f(x)) =x
=>2+(5(3x+2/2x-5))/2(3x+2/2x-5)-3=x
=>2+(15x+10/2x-5)/(6x+4/2x-5)-3=x
=>(2(2x-5)+15x+10/2x-5)/(6x+4-3(2x-5)/2x-5)=x
=>2(2x-5)+15x+10/6x+4-3(2x-5)=x

=>4x-10+15x+10/6x+4-6x+15=x
=>19x/19=x
=>x=x.
Hence f(f(x)) =x verified.
(ii) f (f(x))=x
=>(3(2+5x/2x-3))+2/(2(2+5x/2x-3))-5=x
=>(6+15x/2x-3)+(2/(4x+10x/2x-3))-5=x
=>6+15x+2(2x-3)/2x-3/4+10x-5(2x-3)/2x-3=x
=>6+15x+4x-6/4+10x-10x+15=x
=>19x/19=x
=>x=x.
Hence f (f(x))=x verified.
Q No.6: f(x) =4x/x-2
Sol: y=4x/x-2
=>y(x-2)=4x
=>xy-2y=4x
=>xy-4x=2y
=>x(y-4)=2y
=>x=2y/y-4
=> f(y)=2y/y-4
=> f (x)=2x/x-4
Now, verify the following conditions,
(i) f(f(x)) =x
=>2(4x/x-2)/(4x/x-2)-4=x
=>(8x/x-2)/(4x/x-2)-4=x
=>8x/x-2/4x-4(x-2)/x-2=x
=>8x/4x-4x+8=x
=>8x/8=x
=>x=x.
Hence f(f(x)) =x verified.
(ii) f (f(x))=x
=>4(2x/x-4)/(2x/x-4)-2=x
=>8x/x-4/2x-2(x-4)/x-4=x
=>8x/2x-2x+8=x
=>8x/8=x
=>x=x.
Hence f (f(x))=x verified.

Answer

Sol:Let y= f(x)
>x=f(y)
>y=3-x
>f(x)=3-x
>f(x)=1/2(3-x).d/dx(3-x)
>f(x)=1/2(3-x).(- 1)
>f(x)=-1/2(3-x)
>f(x)=-1/2(3-x)
>f(x)=-1/23-x
It is increasing on domain x<3.
=>y=3-x
=>y=(3-x)
=>(y)=((3-x))
=>3-x=y
=>-x=y=3
=>x=3-y
=>f(y)=3-y
=>x=3-x.
Q No.10: f(x)=4-x
0x2
Sol: f(x)=4-x
=>f(x)=1/2(4-x).d/dx(4-x)
=>f(x)=1/2(4-x).2x
=>f(x)=-x(4-x)
=>f(x)=-x/4-x
It is decreasing function and in the domain [0,2).
=>y=4-x
=>(y)=[(4-x)]
=>y=4-x
=>y-4=x
=>x= y-4
=>x= y -4
=>f(y)=y -4
=>f(x)=x-4.

Q#11.(x)=x+1.
Soln:The domain of (x) is real number
(x)=(x)
=x/
=x
=1/3x
=1/3x
As (x)=x+1
y=x+1
x=y-1

(x)=(y-1)
x=(y-1)
=>(y)=(y-1)
Interms of x can be written as

X=(x-1)

Hence proved.

Q#12.(x)=(x+1).(x+1)
Soln:The domain of (x) is real number
(x)=5(x+1).(x+1).x(x+1)
(x)=5(x+1).(x+1)
As (x)=(x+1).(x+1)
=>y=(x+1).(x+1)
(y)+=(x+1)+ +
x+1=y +
x=5 y-1
(x) =(5y-1)
=> x=(5y-1)
=> (y)=(5y-1)
Interms of x can be written as
X=(5x-1) Hence proved
Q#13.(x)=ax+b
Soln:(x)=a
So a is either positive or negative
Let a is positive so (x)=ax+b is an
Increasing function and hence is one-one function
(x)=ax+b
=>y=ax+b
ax=y-b
x=y-b/a
=>(y)=y-b/a
Interms of x can be written as
X=x-b/a Hence proved
