eChalk recommends that the following optimizations be made to your network in order to experience the best possible performance: Verify that eChalk IP addresses or hostnames and eChalk school/district site URLs are allowed and not filtered for content by your ISP, regional provider, or by your firewall and content filters.
Technology Requirements
Review your bandwidth usage regularly to ensure that you have sufficient bandwidth to support all of your users and initiatives while the eChalk application is in use. We recommend that you not exceed 75% utilization during peak hours, prior to and after eChalk service activation. Additionally, you may enable a proxy or caching device on your network to reduce bandwidth utilization and improve performance. Verify that response time of the DNS servers used within the district is minimal. Review your eChalk homepage content with your Project Manager or Coordinator as there are many ways to optimize the content on your homepage, which will in turn improve performance (e.g., reducing the size of image files). Verify that all network devices are configured correctly and performing optimally (e.g., firewall, DNS server, content filter, proxy server, caching device, routers, switches, etc.). This will reduce bottlenecks in network traffic, further improving performance. Install and update antivirus software on all workstations to add another layer of virus protection for your users. Contact an eChalk Support representative when adding or configuring 3rd party email tools or applications so that we can help you configure your eChalk Email Security policies and filters appropriately.
