DC Servomotor: Presented by Akanksha Sharma Electrical Engg (3 Yr) ROLL NO-1005220002

This document summarizes DC servomotors. It discusses that servomotors are motors controlled by error signals to regulate speed. There are two types: AC and DC servomotors. DC servomotors can be controlled by the armature or field. They have linear torque-speed characteristics necessary for operation. DC servomotors are similar to normal DC motors except they have separate excitation to ensure linear operation. Field control provides constant current to the armature, but has slow response, while armature control allows fast response with closed-loop feedback damping stability. Transfer functions are provided for both field and armature control.

DC SERVOMOTOR

PRESENTED BY AKANKSHA SHARMA ELECTRICAL ENGG(3rd yr) ROLL NO-1005220002

SERVOMOTORS Servomotors are motors driven by servomechanisms Error signals are used to control speed in such motors Here error signals are amplified to drive motor in such systems

Servomotors are of two types namely AC Servomotor DC Servomotors DC Servomotor can be of two types Armature controlled Field controlled

DC Servomotors are almost same as normal motors the only difference between the two is that dcservomotors are always separately excited separate excitation ensure linear torque speed characteristics necessary for the operation of servomotors It can be field contolled or armature controlled

motor is so designed to get almost linear torque speed characterstics torque varies almost linearly with speed

SPEED(r.p.m)

FEATURES Here control signal is obtained by servoamplifier to field windings Due to a constant current source, armature current is maintained constant Large time constant ,so has slow responses to quick changing control signals It is open loop system so change in output does not effect input It is preferred for small rated motors

FEATURES
Here armature input voltage controls the motor shaft output Small time constant, hence fast response Closed loop system Back emf provides internal damping which makes operation stable Suitable for large rated motors
