Pocket Informant 8 provides shortcuts in a New Items submenu that launch other apps instead of Pocket Informant, making them more elegant. The shortcuts are limited to the submenu and can't be added to the main menu or include other items. However, the utility goes beyond just restoring the old New Menu, allowing up to six levels of cascade, opening various files and shortcuts, and adding shortcuts to call or text specific contacts.

Pocket Informant 8

It may seem subtle, but the shortcuts in the New Items submenu will not launch Pocket Informant when you select them, which makes them much more elegant. It's a shame these old style shortcuts have to be in a sub-menu and can't be included in the main menu, and/or that you can't put other items in the sub-menu with them, but nothing's perfect! The utility is way more than a re-instatement of the old New Menu by the way - you can have up to six levels of cascade to it, can open all kinds of les and shortcuts, and best of all you can add shortcuts to dial out or send an SMS to specic contacts.
