January 22, 2013 Dear Central High School Families, As a new year and semester get underway I would

like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Ms. Burns and I will be a student teacher in your son/daughters social studies classes with Mr. Aldridge. This opportunity is the last step that I will take before receiving my Bachelors Degree in History and Secondary Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and I am very excited to be here at Central High School. I will be in the classroom working with Mr. Aldridge and other Central teachers from January 22 through the beginning of May. As a brief introduction to myself I am from the western suburb of Chicago, Geneva, and have one younger brother who attends the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). I played softball in high school and am also a big baseball (Go Cubs!), hockey, and football (Bears and Illini all the way!) fan. I studied abroad for a semester at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom during my sophomore year of college and love to travel. When Im not at school I enjoy reading and listening to country music. I am excited for the learning that both your students and I will be doing together this semester. It will be a fun change for me to be in the classroom as a teacher rather than a student and I assure you that Mr. Aldridge and I will be working together to make this transition as smooth as possible for you and your student. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns please dont hesitate to contact me. I am best reached via e-mail, which I check multiple times a day. My e-mail address is [email protected]. In emergency please contact Central High Schools main office and they will connect you with me in some way. I am looking forward to getting to know both you and your student as the semester progresses!

Best Wishes, Stacey Burns
