Process Capability: Presented by Guru Vinay.P

Process capability refers to a production process's ability to meet design specifications or customer expectations. There are two main techniques used to evaluate process capability: frequency distributions/histograms and control charts. Process capability index (Cp) quantifies the relationship between the natural variation in a process and the design specifications. Cp is calculated as the allowable range divided by six times the standard deviation of the process. There are four main options for improving a process's capability: shifting the mean, reducing variation, shifting the mean and reducing variation, and moving the specification limits.

Process capability

Presented by GURU VINAY.P

Meaning of PC Process capability is the ability of a production process to meet the design specifications for product or service or to produce products within the desired expectations of customers .

Techniques of pc
Two statistical techniques that are commonly used to evaluate process capability are: Frequency distribution and histogram and Control chart.

Process capability index.

Pc is in assessing the relationship between the natural variation of process and the design specifications. This relationship is quantified by a measure know as the process capability index(cp). Cp = allowable range process spread usl - lsl 6~

Problem Solving Options Shift the Mean

This involves finding the variables that will shift the process over to the target. This is usually the easiest option.

Problem Solving Options Reduce Variation

This is typically not so easy to accomplish and occurs often in Six Sigma projects.

Obviously this implies making them wider, not narrower. Customers usually do not go for this option but if they doits the easiest!
