Respected luminaries on the dais and off the dais, Esteemed Chief Guest of the evening, Beloved Principal,

most valued parents, cherished Faculty members and my dear students. Good Evening. It is indeed a beautiful evening, all soaked in the delighted frame of mind. This evening I have the pleasure of introducing to you to the star of this show Mr.VelMurugan, a renowned playback singer. Our Chief guest belong to a small village named Mudhanai, in Cuddalore District. Agriculture was the main activity of his family. Folksongs had always fascinated Mr.Velmurugan since his boyhood. Singing was the second nature of the village Mr.Velmuragans talent in folks and no occasion was complete without songs.

singing during those occasions was spotted and appreciated by his class teacher. So his passion for singing stared and he decided to become a singer. Mr.VelMurugan has acquired a formal degree in vocal music from Government Music College, Adyar. Simultaneously he developed his talent in singing and used to perform in local functions and has also sung on various themes ranging from untouchability, environmental pollution, AIDS awareness and movements. Our guest participated in Grand Master, a programme on Vijay TV. Film director Sasikumar and music direction James Vasanthan, who watched the programme on TV, gave him the chance to sing Madhura Kulunga Kulunga in their film. Following that, the Director Samuthrakani gave our guest with a hit number Adungada Machan Adungada in Nadodigal. Mr.VelMurugan has also sung many songs in various films Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Kazhugu, Porali, Subramaniyapuram Katradhu Kaiyalavu, Aravadhu manam, Balam and the list moves on. Five volumes of his folksongs have been released so far. He has also released an album titled Thaipasam whis is appreciated by many music directors. To mention, our guest treasures the letter sent by the then President Abdul Kalamji congratulating him for his poem on the tsunami. Our Guest Mr.Velmurugan has been honored with UK Tamil Sangam Award, Best Singer Award, Long Live Tamilnadu Cinema Kalaimandram Award and Padmashree Kamalahassan Award. many social
