ISRAEL MEIR KIRZNER BIOGRAPHY AND CONTRIBUTIONS Professor of Economics, New York University Born: February 13, 1930, (83 years old) London, England The son of a well-known rabbi and Talmudist, Lived in Cape Town, South Africa, 1940-48 Idiosyncrasies Kirzner is also an ordained rabbi ("master" literally means "great one") and Talmud scholar, and serves as the rabbi of the congregation once headed by his father in Brooklyn, New York. He is a professor at New York University, and is the leading authority on Ludwig von Mises' thinking and methodology in economics. He is famous for his works in economics as the central figure in advancing the wealth of nations and creating dynamic disequilibrium in the economy.
