0308 CONTROL SYSTEMS Target group: Personnel with responsibility for planning, maintenance, fault tracing and repair

of monitoring, measuring, or control equipment on installations offshore, or onshore personnel who maintain or repair technical equipment on drilling, well service or production units. Learning objectives: After completing the course students should be able to test and fault trace pneumatic and hydraulic installations and describe the electrical control and regulation on an offshore installation. Furthermore they should know about PLS controls and describe the applied measuring control techniques connected with well operations and production. They should also be able to describe the construction, operation and procedures for shut down of the circulation system on a platform. Qualifications: This web based course is in accordance with the guidelines from The Norwegian Oil Industry Association and covers the official Norwegian syllabus for Technical College, Petroleum Technology Faculty. The course is equivalent to 75 hours of ordinary tuition in this subject. Entry requirements: Introduction courses or relevant professional background. Course content: Hydraulics pressure levels and pressure measurement General introduction to hydraulic pressure Dangers of working on hydraulic systems Oil distribution- pressure drop through equipment and piping Hydraulic components Valves-construction and operating modes Pneumatic installations-construction and operating modes Dangers with working with pneumatic systems Generation and distribution of pneumatic pressure Drying of air Pneumatic components Electrical installations- marking of equipment Zone classification, Ex equipment Earthing and fusing of electrical equipment Fees EI Individual member Non-member
