Typestyle Conventions
The following conventions are observed throughout this guide: Bold text is used to designate file and folder names, dialog titles, names of buttons, icons, and menus, and terms that are objects of a user selection. Italic text is used for word emphasis, defined terms, and manual titles. Monospace text (Courier) is used to show literal text as you would enter it or as it would appear onscreen.
Alert Statements
The alerting statements are Notes, Cautions, and Warnings. These statements are formatted in the following style:
Note: Information that is incidental to the main text flow or to an important point or tip provided in addition to the previous statement or instruction.
Caution: Advises of machine or data error that could occur should the user fail to take or avoid a specified action.
Warning: Requires immediate action by the user to prevent actual loss of data or where an action is irreversible, or when physical damage to the machine or devices is possible.

Before installing OFM 2012.1, make sure your system meets these requirements. Table 2-1 System Requirements

Overview
Overview
Audience The OFM administrator or the end user can perform the tasks described in this section.
Prerequisites
Perform the following tasks before you install OFM 2012.1: Obtain an OFM 2012.1 product license from your Schlumberger account manager. Ensure that you have administrative privileges on the computer where you are installing OFM. Ensure that the System Requirements on page 2-2 are met.

Caution: Do not double-click OFM 2012.msi.
The Welcome panel of the installation wizard opens. b. Click Next. The license agreement displays. 3 Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement if you agree to the terms, and then click Next. Customer information displays. 4 Enter customer information: a. Enter the User Name and the name of your Organization. b. Select who can use the installation. c. Click Next. A selection of setup types displays. 4 Select the appropriate setup option: a. Select the type of installation you wish to have, from the choices provided:

Installs all program features Use this option for standalone and server installations of OFM.

Allows you to exclude optional features (for example, sample databases) Installs the files required to run OFM from a workstation accessing OFM on a server

b. If you wish to use the Schlumberger License Manager, select the Install Schlumberger License Manager 2011.1 check box.
Note: If your organization uses FlexeraTM FlexNet Publisher(or later) License Manager to manage Flex licenses, then the Schlumberger License Manager software is not required.
c. Click Next. The location for installing OFM displays. 4 If you need to change the destination folder, click Browse and select a new folder. Otherwise, click Next to accept the default location. Options for adding shortcuts to your desktop display. 5 6 7 Select the shortcuts you would like to add and then click Next. The location for installation displays. Click Install to begin the installation. The status of the installation displays. Click Finish to complete the installation. If you chose to install the Schlumberger License Manager in Step 4, see Installing Schlumberger Licensing Manager 2011.1 on page 3-5 for additional installation instructions. Otherwise, see Activating the OFM 2012.1 License on page 4-1 to activate your OFM license.

Note: If your organization uses the FlexNet 11.0 (or later) to manage Flex licenses, then the Schlumberger License Manager software is not required.
To Install the Schlumberger Licensing Manager 1 If you selected the Install Schlumberger License Manager 2011.1 option when you installed OFM 2012.1, the Schlumberger Licensing installation starts automatically after the OFM installation is complete. If you want to manually start the Schlumberger License Manager 2011.1 installation: On the OFM installation CD or the network drive where the OFM installation files are available, double-click SchlumbergerLicensing2011.exe. The Welcome panel of the installation wizard opens. 2 3 Click Next. The location for installing the Schlumberger License Manager displays. If you need to change the destination folder, click Change. Otherwise, click Next to accept the default location. A confirmation message displays. 4 5 Click Install. The status of the installation displays. Click Finish to complete the installation.

FlexNet Overview
FlexNet Overview
FlexeraTM FlexNet Publisher is the system Schlumberger uses to manage software licensing. If your organization uses a FlexNet license server to manage software licenses, contact your FlexNet administrator for assistance with adding the OFM license to the established license server. For organizations that do not have a FlexNet license server, Schlumberger provides the Schlumberger License Manager software to manage Schlumberger-specific licenses. After you install the Schlumberger License Manager, you can use it to activate your OFM product license. The following sections discuss the two supported licensing methods: Standalone and server based.

To Establish a Connection from the Local Machine to the Remote Service On the local machine, perform the following steps: 1 Select Start > Programs > Schlumberger > Schlumberger Licensing 2011.1 > Schlumberger Licensing on your Windows menu. The Schlumberger licensing window opens. 2 In the All license servers (lower) section, enter your license server name and click Add license server. The license server name should be in the format port-number@servername, where: port-number is the number of a communication port between your computer and the security server (often between 27000 and 27009) server-name is the computer name of your security server
Note: By default, the licensing server is installed on port 27000.
