Assignment BEco

This document contains a student's ID number and 6 charts of x and y values. It then calculates the slopes between points in each chart. It also contains 3 paragraphs with equations relating price (P) to quantity (q) or demand (D), relating tax (P) to income (I), and relating mortgage interest rate (r) to loan amount (I). It concludes with 6 figures explaining the signs of slopes based on the shapes of curves and relationships between variables.

AXIOM
Sign of the slope is irrespective of where the independent & dependent
variables are placed so the direction of slope will primarily depend on the
shape of the curve.
FIGURE 1(a)
As the price of apple is reducing the quantity consumed is increasing & so the
relationship is negative, consiquently making the slope negative.
FIGURE 1(b)
As the income increases tax paid also increases but a decreasing rate
causing the rate to be positive.

FIGURE 1(c)
As the interest charged on mortgage decreases it will stimulate greater
demand for mortgage loans at an increasing rate presenting inverse
relationship, consiquently the slope is negative.

FIGURE 1(d)
As the age increases the fastest time improves leavins slope to become
negative however as the age exceeds a certain level the fastest time
increases making the slope positive.
FIGURE 1(e)
As the days of sunshine increases the yield per acre also increases making
the relationship positive.

FIGURE 1(f)
The left half of the parabola has positive slope & increasing rate whereas the
right half of the parabola has negative slope & increasing at an increasing
rate & the slope is infinity at the peak.
