EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Employee empowerment means making person able to run the show by himself. When employees are empowered, part of the load of the management because such employees are prepared to share the pain and anxieties of management as part of the same. The ultimate objective of Human Resource Management is that of empowerment of employees. Empowerment encourages employees to share responsibility and use their imitative to take decision and solve problem. In order to take such initiatives and decisions, they are given adequate authority and resources. This allocation of authority is not based on the conventional concept of

delegation based relationship. In

empowerment, it is a trust based-relationship which is established between managers and supervisors and workers and between management and employees. This is a continuous process. In trust based empowered employees become "self-directed" and "self-controlled". Empowerment focuses on employees to make use of their full potential, this, once a g a i n , h i g h l i g h t s the importance o f humanism and human-capital approach which are the hallmarks of Japanese management. Toyota Company highlights this aspect in t h e i r mission s t a t e me n t .

In addition empowerment encourages innovation and creativity. The other factors influencing structural, cultural and

human factors. The concept of employee management is designed to act as a practical guide to leadership in liberated

organizations. The empowerment ripples on to the manager-managed relationship and becomes deeply organizational in good

time. Empowerment does not only include delegating job authority, it also means job enhancement decision making. The

traditional bureaucracy and the age old emphasis on control and standardization are now things of the past. The new vistas

involve innovation, flexibility and commitment and consistent improvement.
