Waste management: past, present and future

Deana Nichols

Thursday 21 March
No one can have failed to notice the proliferation of waste products in modern society. Elaborate packaging, especially plastic; stringent health precautions and the availability of cheap goods leading to a throw away mentality are amongst the reasons for the ever increasing volumes of rubbish that our councils have to deal with. Deana Nichols has a background in both education and environmental studies and has five years experience as Brisbane City Councils Waste Management Education Officer. Deana will provide an insight into how Brisbane City Council has been dealing with the issue and its future plans. You are invited to bring some food (preferably locally sourced or home produced!) to share.
