    HISTORY
    EAST INDIA COMPANY WAS FORMED A BRITISH-INDIAN ARMY IN 1757. IN 1790 THE STRENGTH OF ARMY IS 90,000. THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE CREATED IN 1834. THE FIRST WAR OF B-I-A IN 1857 WHEN QUEEN VICTORIA IN LONDON WAS NO LONGER AMUSED WITH THE COMPANY LOSS OF CONTROL. THE INDIAN ARMY ALSO PARTICIPATED IN 1ST &2ND WORLD WAR. UNDER 2ND WORLD WAR BROKE OUT,NOT A SINGLE UNIT OF THE INDIAN ARMY WAS MECHANIZED TO RESPECTABLE STANDARDS. AFTER THE WAR IT MERITED BEST IN THE WORLD.RECOGNISING AS SUPERB FIGHTING MACHINE. AND THAN 1948 IT BECAME A INDIAN ARMY.AFTER DEPENDENCE. THE FIRST CHIEF COMMANDER WAS FM SIR PHILIP CHETWODE.

    THE WORLD THIRD LARGEST ARMED FORCE.

    $FIGHTING FOUR MAJOR WARS. $1947-48 KASHMIR WAR WAS FOUGHT WITH AN EVOLVING INDIAN HIGHER COMMAND. $TWO COMMAND VIZ WESTERN COMMAND & NORTH-EAST COMMAND.

    $BESIDES ITS CONVENTIONAL ARMED SECOND LINE IS TERRITORIAL ARMY WHICH IS ABLE TO TAKE ON SPECIALIST WORK IN TIME OF NEED.
    $THE LARGEST STANDING VOULENTEER ARMY IN WORLD. $THE INDIAN ARMY HAS GIVEN WORLD CLASS SPORTS PERSON IN ANY DISIPLINE. $INDIAN ARMY HAS TOTAL STRENGTH IS 1.3 MILLLION. $IT HAS 12 REGIMENTS.ONE THE BEST IS RAJPUTANA REGIMENTS.
