Vinod Khosla
Personal Life
Born on 28 January 1955 in Delhi, India. Khosla's father was an officer in the Indian Army. Married to Neeru Khosla Having 4 children namely Nina, Anu, Vani and Neal.
Education
Indian Institute of Technology, B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Carnegie Mellon University, M.A. in Biomedical Engineering. Stanford University, MBA.
Career
After graduating from IIT Delhi, Vinod Khosla started a soy milk company to cater to those people in India who did not have refrigerators. After graduating from Stanford University in 1980, Khosla co-founded electronic design automation company Daisy Systems. In 1982, Khosla co-founded Sun Microsystems and worked as a CEO from 1982-1984.
In 1986, Khosla joined the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as a general partner. Vinod Khosla also challenged Intel's monopoly by developing Nexgen/AMD. Conceptualized the idea and business plan for Juniper to take on Cisco's dominance of the router market.
Founding fathers of The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE), a not-for-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals founded in 1992. In 2004, he formed khoslaventures to fund knowledgeable entrepreneurs in their new "social impact" ventures.
