Displaying Duplicate Member Names in Oracle Essbase Spreadsheet Add-In Release 11.1.1

The document discusses two methods for displaying qualified member names when duplicate member names exist in an Essbase database using the Spreadsheet Add-in. The first method displays the qualified name as a comment that appears when the cursor hovers over a cell. The second method directly displays the qualified name on the spreadsheet. Both methods involve selecting display options in the Add-in and refreshing the report.

Displaying Qualified Member Names as Comments

Excel comments are displayed when you place your cursor over a cell that contains a comment indicator. When you enable the display option, Essbase creates Excel comments that contain qualified member names. Unlike standard Excel comments, which are cell-specific, Essbase-generated comments are member-specifc and move with members during ad hoc operations such as zoom in and pivot. To display the qualified name of duplicate members as Excel comments, perform the following steps: 1. Select Essbase > Options.

The Options dialog box is displayed.

2.

Under Duplicate Members, select Show Qualified Member Names as Comment.

3.

Click OK to return to your report.

Note: Changes to display options do not take effect until you refresh the report.

4.

Select Essbase > Retrieve.

Excel comment indicators are displayed in cells that contain duplicate member names.

5.

Place your cursor over a cell that contains a duplicate member name to display the qualified member name.
