Jagdish Chandra Mahindra was a Punjabi Indian businessman born in 1892 in Ludhiana, Punjab. He was the co-founder of Mahindra & Mahindra, one of India's largest automotive manufacturing companies. Mahindra established the company in 1945 with the goal of manufacturing jeeps and other vehicles in India to support the country's growing needs. Under his leadership, the company changed its name and grew to become one of India's leading industrial companies before his death in 1951.
