ILD Meeting Summary February 21, 2013 C-109 In attendance: Chelsea Campbell, Nicole Calla, Tammie Stocklie, Pat

Barrett, Neal Michael, Carrie Carlson, Sean Chambers, Andrew Holland, Rebecca ONeil, June James, Stefan Stipp. Special guest: Jordan Tinney 1. Stefan (with lots of help from everyone) presented an overview of our ILDs history, processes and progress to date for Deputy Superintendent, Jordan Tinney. Jordan asked lots of good questions and made a number of suggestions. He made clear that the district is open to innovative ways for us to create time. For example, by having a community based portion of our program where students are not in class, thereby creating prep/ planning time for teachers. 2. Update on Stefans meetings with SESM, Science, Math and Socials (English is coming up next week) Stefans meetings continue and we are going to try to get a Math teacher involved in the pilot to address some the concerns of the Math department.

3. Roland Cases presentation We agreed that we were all overwhelmed by his presentation but that he has significant things to offer us. Some possible opportunities for us to get help from TC2 might be development of core tasks to assess competencies, final assessments, creating some of the winning conditions. We also agreed that its ultimately up to the IS teaching team to decide if and how working with Roland will be helpful. 4. Integrated Studies as Pilot for new Curriculum The ministry has indicated that draft curriculum k-10 will be available by May 2013 and that they would be delighted to have us pilot such curriculum. Jordan Tinney followed up on this for us and the ministry is now prepared to send a team of 4-5 people to come work with us in April to plan the pilot.

5. Calgary Science school We committed to sending a team of six people to this conference at a total cost of approximately $4500. 6. Next meeting: Monday March 4th
