TELL TO WHOM OR FOR WHOM THE ACTION OF THE VERB IS PERFORMED. I gave John the ticket. WHO did I give the ticket TO? --John; John is the indirect object. John changes to HIM. I gave HIM the ticket. WHO did I give the ticket TO? --Him (I.O.) In English, nouns are replaced by pronouns. o Did you give Joe and Ann the money?
