March 2009 Technology Offerings

Video Tutorials
( Note the titles below are not active links) The tutorials are anywhere from
1 minute to 5 minutes in length. They work best when you watch one and
then immediately try what you have learned :) Please do the tutorials on one
of the newer Imac computers in the district.
Class/Demo Descriptions:
TRT ( Technology Resource teacher)
These sessions will be approximately one hour in length. This will
allow for travel time to your next location.

Class Title: Creating E-Mail Distribution List and more...

Description: The NCCS Internet Mail service will be covered. Concentration will be on
creating distribution list, calenders and folders.

Class Title: Basic Wikis


Location:Latham Ridge Computer lab

Description: Wiki spaces have many uses. They can be used as a class website or a
site for student collaboration. Learn and actual set-up your wiki space. Creating
links, inserting images and other advanced topics will be covered.

Description: Learn about this amazing software tool and how it can be used in the
classroom.

Class Title: Cognitive Mapping Software

Description: Learn about Inspiration and Webspiration software. With this you can
create cognitive maps for writing, create links for research and even use this software
for storyboarding. Webspiration is a new Beta product that allows for online
collaboration.

wonderful online tools available for doing presentations. Renata will cover Google Docs

home page. Find out all it offers through a treasure hunt activity.

Description: We have all saved an image from the internet or our digital camera.
Now what do you do with those images. Laura will do the basics of Photoshop
elements and teach you how to do slide shows using "slides", Iphoto and Keynote

Class Title: Gizmos

Description: Learn about the newest interactive Gizmos for Science and Mathematics
for the elementary level. These gizmos allow you to explore and ask the "what if"
questions for all types of concepts. You wil develp your own class of wikis for students
to explore both at home and school.

Class Title: Project Architects


Location: Elementary Classrooms and anywhere else

Description: Teachers are to share projects and then develop a way to integrate the
new web 2.0 tools as well as software suite into lab activities. All projects will be
posted by the teachers by the end of the workshop day and available for all to share.
Online Moodle Classes
These classes are created and hosted our own Moodle Server. The classes
should take between 2-3 hours of time depending on your current technology
skills. You will be given instructions on how to join the class once registration
is complete. The classes may be done an any computer in the district

Description: We have all heard about it, now learn how to set-up an account and use
it to create online word. excel and powerpoint documents. You will also learn how to
share these documents with others.

Class Title: Advanced Wiki

Description: The keyword here is EMBED. Learn how to embed powerpoints, forms,
quizzes, google gadgets and movies to your wiki site

Class Title: Collaboration Tools
