In 1776 in Princeton, New Jersey Washington won anther follow up battle against the British. They won the battle by tricking the British. They tricked the British by setting up fake camp res and making lots of noise, so the people in the town of Princeton would think that Washingtons whole entire army was over there. When they were really going to attack them they quietly snuck over. Also, like Trenton, after Washingtons battle they felt very condent and that they could beat the British. Winter at Valley Forge

In the winter of 1777 Washington took his army to Valley Forge in Pennsylvania. It was winter and they had no battles. Washington wanted his army to stay in shape. Washington didnt want his soldiers to be out of shape when it came time for a battle. While they were there a new general came. His name was Baron Von Steuben and he was a German general. Baron Von Steuben helped General Washingtons army stay in shape and soon became head general. He helped them even when it was freezing cold outside and the Continental army felt like giving up. This is good because the Continental army stayed in shape.

On September 28, 1781 in Virginia the battle began. George Washington was the general for the Continental army and condent of a Continental victory. Cornwallis, the general for the British, had retreated to a port city in Yorktown. Washington couldnt have won the war without the help of the French. With the French, Washington had 16,000 men and Cornwallis only had 7,500, less than half of Washington. Anther advantage Washington had was that his men didnt let Cornwallis men get anywhere on land and the French closed off Yorktown Harbor. This was good for the Continental army because they won and ended the war.
