The Battle of Saratoga took place in Saratoga, New Jersey. The Battle was in the year of 1777.
General Burgoyne was a British general. He and general Howe were important generals. The British plan of attack was to have Gen. Burgoyne going south from Canada, and Gen. Howe to move north up the Hudson River and meet Burgoynes army half way.
General Howe did not get his orders in time, so the continental army now only had a single army to battle. The British failed because the patriot army knew how to hide in bushes and behind trees, while the British had been trained to re in straight lines. This was an important battle because the patriots won and captured the
British. But Gen. Gates (a patriot general) let Burgoyne keep all his weapons, and let them return to England. But congress did not put up with that, so the British were prisoners of war.

This took place in Paris, France. This was the year of 1783.
Ben Franklin, John Jay, and John Adams were sent by congress to Paris to get Britain to agree to terms of a peace treaty, declaring American independence.
The terms of the treaty were: Britain had to agree to new borders for the
U.S. Britain also had to move all of its troops still in America, back to Britain. The United States would also allow all of Britains troops to return. America agreed to pay the money they owed to Britain, and they also said that they would not do anything to the Loyalists still in America. They would be sent back to England.
The war is over. But what now? The Americans are on their own. They must build a nation. The Americans begin work.

Ben Franklin was born January 17th, 1706, in Ben is one of the most well known and loved founders of the United States of America. He had a son who was a Loyalist. Ben was ashamed of his son. He was a witness to two of the rst balloon ights. He lived in England for over a decade, then moved to France and lived there for 6 years, then moved to America.
