Setting Out of Horizontal Curves

The document describes the procedure for setting out a horizontal curve using a digital theodolite and tape measure. The steps include: (1) setting up the theodolite at the point of curve and taking an initial reading; (2) laying out points on the curve by turning angles from a table and measuring chord lengths; (3) continuing this process until reaching the point of tangent. Key details provided are the radius of curve, central angle, and stationing and measurements along the curve.

1-Digtal theodolite Procedure

1- set up the theodolite at point P.C 2- make the horizontal circle reading = 00 00 00 towards the tangent (point P.I) 3- start laying the points on the curve by turning the appropriate angle from the table and measuring the chord length 4- the first tangential angle= 1 /2 =5 50 measure the first chord from point P.C int the direction of the theodolite 5- turn the theodolite by the second tangential angle =1 /2 + 2 /2 =11 40 measure the second cord from the end of the first arc toward the direction of the theodolite 6- continue till reaching point P.T P.1 R= 49.11 m = 70 Length of curve= 60m chord length Station P.C =10+00 9.98M 5 50 P.C
