Differential Shrinkage

The document calculates stresses in a composite girder-slab section due to differential shrinkage. It provides properties of the section including areas, moduli, centroids. Free shrinkage strain and creep reduction factor are given. Force and moment required to restrain shrinkage of the slab are calculated. Self-equilibrating stresses at the top and bottom of the girder and slab are then determined, accounting for shrinkage and moment effects. Stresses up to 19.15 kg/cm^2 in tension and compression are found at the extreme fibers of the section.
