Definition of Network

A computer network connects two or more computers to share resources like printers and files. Key devices in a network include hubs, network interface cards, routers, and connectors to link computers. Networks also use modems and file sharing. There are three main types of networks - local area networks (LANs) within a building, metropolitan area networks (MANs) across a large physical area like a state, and wide area networks (WANs) spanning an entire country or region.

Definition of Network

A network consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources (such as printers and CD-ROMs), exchange files, and allow electronic

communications.

Devices Needed in Computer Networks

1. Hub is a central device that provides a common connection point for nodes on a network. 2. A Network Interface Card is a piece of computer hardware designed to allow computers to communicate over a computer network. 3. Router is a device that forwards data packets along networks. A router is connected to at least, two networks, commonly two LANs or WANs. 4. Connector is an eight-wire connector used commonly to connect computers onto a local-area network (LAN). 5. Modem is a device or program that enables a computer to transmit data over telephone or cable lines. 6. File Sharing is using the network to save copies of important data on a different computer, examples share photos, music files and documents.

Types of Network
1. LAN are groups of computers and network devices connected together, usually within the same building.
2. WAN in a geographic area or region larger than that covered by a local area network (LAN) but smaller than the area covered by wide area network(WAN). 3. MAN is a group of computers and network devices connected across a large physical areas such as states or countries.
