Shell Elements Plane Elements Asolid Elements

SAP2000 includes shell, plane, and axisymmetric solid elements. Shell elements have 6 degrees of freedom and model membrane, plate, and thin/thick shell behaviors. Plane elements have 3 degrees of freedom and model plane stress and strain. Axisymmetric solid elements represent axisymmetric 3D solids with a 2D cross section and have 3 degrees of freedom. Each element type is described further in the CSI Analysis Reference Manual.

1. Considering the objective of the existing analysis and results 2. Comparing the behavior of the existing element with one the element in SAP2000 3. Considering the type of the existing result (Membrane, Shear, Moment, Principal Stresses, etc.) and see how the old program calculated them 4. Implement an analysis benchmark for a small model. 5. Implement Mesh sensitivity analysis
