Plan for Animation Workshops 22nd-25th January 2013: Week 1 Introduction to Animation/Project/what we will be doing over the coming weeks (Duration 30mins) What we will be covering: What is Animation? Short introduction to what animation is. Examples of animation: 2D Animation/CGI/Claymation What is the project? Explaining why we are here. Explain why someone is recording on a fancy camera in the corner Explain what the project is/why we are doing it. What are we going to be doing over the coming weeks? Character Design What is character design? What well be doing. Background Design What is background design? What well be doing. Sound Workshop What is sound and the use of it in animation, introduction to equipment Foly/Voice Recording Recording voice over and different sound effects. Animating Workshop Create 10 second animation using everything created in previous workshops. Screening, Prizes to be won! Short intro to next workshop (Character design) What is needed? Camera Fin, Carly + Cameraman
28th-1st January/February 2013: Week 2 Character Design (Duration 1 hour) What we will be covering: What is Character Design? Explain what Character Designing is/involves Explain why it is useful! Introduction to Character Design exercise Explaining what well be doing Hand out materials Make Teams Putting pupils in teams of 4 or 3 Hand out character briefs (one character per group) Start Character Design! Wrap up/collect designs Introduction to the next workshop (Background Design) What is needed? Camera Character Design Briefs Drawing Materials Fin, Carly + Cameraman
4th-8th February 2013: Week 3 Background Design (Duration 1 hour) What we will be covering: What is Background Design? Explain what Background Designing is/involves Explain why it is useful! Introduction to Background Design exercise Explaining what well be doing Hand out materials Hand out background briefs (one background per group) Start Character Design! Wrap up/collect designs Introduction to the next workshop (Sound Workshop) What is needed? Camera Background Design Briefs Drawing Materials Fin, Carly + Cameraman
What we will be covering: Introduction to sound (used within animation) Explain what Sound is/involves Explain why it is useful! Introduction to equipment Explain what the equipment is Explain how it works Give equipment to to assistants Discuss how we will be using sound within this project Short exercise Explain what well be doing Each group are given a brief of sounds they need to record Wrap up/collect equipment Introduction to the next workshop (Foly/Voice Recording Workshop) What is needed? Camera Sound Briefs Sound Equipment Zooms x3 Fin, Carly + Cameraman
18th-22nd February 2013: Week 5 Foly/Voice Recording Workshop (Duration 1 hour 30mins) What we will be covering: Introduction to Foly/Voice Recording (used within animation) Explain what Foly sound is Explain voice over within animation Explain why its useful! Based upon our/teaching staffs advice, select a number of pupils to do the voice overs Fin/teaching staff to take the children to a quiet area to record voice overs based upon the scripts written Remaning pupils will work on Foly sound recording. Carly/Jed/teaching staff will monitor and help with the foly sound recordings with the pupils Record Voice/Foly Recordings Foly sound Based upon briefs Voice over Based upon script Wrap up/collect equipment Introduction to the FINAL workshop (Animation Workshop) What is needed? 25th-1st February-March 2013: Week 6 Animation Workshop (Duration 2 hour) What we will be covering: Introduction to differnet styles of animation we will be creating Show examples Explain how we will be doing it Explain that the sound/character designs/background designs have been packaged up for them to create a 10 second animation to them. Explain how it works/Show them materials Each group will receive pre-backed materials which they have made, as well as a 10 second sound clip of them to work from Introduction to how it works (each group individually) Animation exercise Using Claymation or paper based animation Wrap up/collect everything Remainder of the day Ill (Fin) will be putting together everything to show each groups 10-second animations End of day screening/prize give out (each team will receive an award) What is needed? Camera x2 Sound Equipment Zooms x1 Macbook (Carlys) Prizes Fin, Carly, Jed, Adam + Cameraman
