By the end of the lesson students should be able to:
1. Simplify ratios as fractions
2. solve problems involving direct proportion On 29 Jan , Test 1
is given to PIP 1

Previous Knowledge
Activities
Going shopping
Students were asked what kind of shopping list do they have. An example is about the maggi
mee that have stocked up.
2 packet of maggi mee is priced at $3.80, and a 3 packet of a different brand of mee is priced at
$6.45. Which mee has the lower cost?
Find and compare the unit rates of the packages.
2 packet = 3.80
1packet = 1.90 Divide the numerator and denominator
the unit rate is RM 1.80 per packet.
For the 3 packet mee, the unit rate is RM2.15 per packet.
So, the maggi mee has a lower cost per packet.
