Question 1 Find the missing number in 25, 38, _, 64, -27, 90 a) -1 b) 51 c) 39 d) -32 Answer : a) -1 Solution : Closely analyzing the given series, it follows a pattern as shown below : 25 = 25 25 + 13 = 25 + 13 = 38 25 - 13x2 = 25 - 26 = -1 (this is our answer) 25 + 13x3 = 25 + 39 = 64 25 - 13x4 = 25 - 52 = -27 25 + 13x5 = 25 + 65 = 90 Question 2 Find the missing number in 30,31,61,92,153,245,? a) 402 b) 540 c) 390 d) 398 Answer : d) 398 Solution : This is similar to fibonacci series where first two terms are added to produce the next. III term = I term + II term i.e, 61 = 30 + 31 IV term = II term + III term i.e, 92 = 31 + 61 V term = III term + IV term i.e, 153 = 61 + 92 VI term = IV term + V term i.e, 245 = 92 + 153 Therefore, VII term = V term + VI term = 153 + 245 = 398 (answer) Question 3 Find the number that should come at the blank in 44,47,56,83,164,? a) 403 b) 407 c) 245 d) 345 Answer : b) 407 Solution : The series given follows a pattern as shown below. II term = I term + 3 i.e, 47 = 44 + 3 III term = II term + 32 i.e, 56 = 47 + 9 IV term = III term + 33 i.e, 83 = 56 + 27 V term = IV term + 34 i.e, 164 = 83 + 81
