Summary: As for the pre-assessment, to get an idea of what they children already knew about their community, I asked the children what items and places did they see and/or use often in their community. To give the children an idea of what I was asking them, I posted three items/places I often see and/or use in my community. To put the question in more advanced context, I was asking them, What exist in your local community? The majority of the class answered the question very well. They answered the question with at least three or more items or places and
their idea was clearly defined. These children received satisfactory for their grade. The other children that did not answer with three or more and their idea was not clearly defined received a needs improvement. The post-assessment covered all three parts of the lesson, as the pre-assessment covers just the first part of the lesson. The postassessment consist of three questions. Each question covering one part of the lesson, question one covering part one, question two covering part two of the lesson, and question three covering part three of the lesson. If the student missed all three questions they received (0%). If they missed two of the questions they received (50%), if they missed only one question they received (75%), and last, if they did not miss any of the questions they received (100%). Half of the class received 100% on the quiz and the other half of the class miss one of more. Not one of the students received a (0) on the quiz.
Individuals: Student 1: High Performer Student 2: Average Performer Student 3: Low Performer
These three students are on three different levels of learning. It is imperative that the teacher knows these students learning so he or she can help each student to the extent he or she would need to. The teacher needs to know their learning so that the students are able to learn what is being taught with fewer difficulties. Also, once the teacher knows how these students learn she may also be able to help those students in a
variety of ways instead of just the basics of repeating instructions, oneon-one help, etc. Student 1which is a high performer in her work will not need as much help. She just needs clear instructions of what to do or what she needs to know and she can do the work according to the teachers expectations. Student 1 was able to achieve all of the lesson objectives with ease. Starting with the pre-assessment all the way through to the post-assessment quiz she was able to answer all of the questions to my expectations. I gathered from here assessments that she learned what was being taught. Student 1 was very confident in herself. She knew the answers and she always answered them to her best ability and beyond the expectations given. Student 2 is an average performer. The teacher needs to know this so that he or she can help Taylor to the extent that she needs. Student 2 will need to be given clear instructions along with the teacher repeating the instructions at least twice. Depending on the work given Student 2 may need a little one-on-one help. However, she can pick up most of the work given to her on her own. Through all of the assessments I was able to gather that Student 2 was able to absorb a majority of what was being taught. However, I think that she would have been able to absorb all of the information taught if I would have been able to give her more oneon-one help. Student 2 wanted to do her work and do it well, however, I noticed that during the assessments, especially the post-assessment she would doubt herself and her answers. She needed a lot of encouragement and support that she knew what she was doing and not to second guess herself. Student 3 needs clear instructions, the instructions repeated more than twice, and some one-on-one help. The teacher will need to know this so that Student 3 can reach his or her expectations and learn what is
being taught. Student 3 was also able to absorb majority of the information that was taught. However, he struggled with the all three of the assessments that were given, but you can still see to some extent where he knew the answer. He struggled with the pre-assessment because of his participation and effort he put into his work. I was able to see that Student 3 had potential to do well on his work, if actually wanted to do the work.
