Statement 1 Schools that adhere to the subject-centered approach make robots out of children. If I were to choose the type of approach that I want, subject-centered approach is the least of my choice but, it doesnt mean that it is because I am perceiving this approach as something as worst as it was stated above. As Ive understand this approach, they are not actually making robots out of the children instead, they are just believing that it will be in greater help for the children if they make the process of learning that way and, that is focusing on the acquisition of different thoughts in all subject areas. I believe that every school has their own acceptable reasons of adhering a particular approach for their learners and that doesnt necessarily mean that they are making robots out of the learners. As I have understand also about this approach, their method of making the children learn will also help the children in acquiring good attitudes and values about learning such as the importance of obedience. Statement 2 In schools which embrace the child-centered approach, discipline is weak. The level of discipline in very class will always and will still be dependent on the classroom manager which are the teachers. Giving the learners freedom to explore and do things on their own to learn doesnt mean that you as a teacher will stop guiding them; definitely not. Even though in this school the learners themselves are considered to be active constructor of their own learning, the teachers are still watching them and teaching them the dos and donts and the rights and wrongs. This is the reason why we have the different types of objectives in every lesson that we are to undertake. Any of the three domains should not and cannot be left behind, this way the institutions embracing this approach can assure themselves that the discipline among the children are still observable. Statement 3 Why should lessons revolve around problems? There are too many to be solved. Yes, I do agree that there are too many problems to be solved but, are we teaching the learners to solve all those problems specifically and one by one? Ill answer it and, the answer is definitely not! We, teachers are teaching the learners how to solve the different types of problems in and outside the school corners and that is the reason why our lessons revolve around problems. Since we are teaching them to solve problems, we have to make the lesson in parallel with it and that is by using problems dependent on the level of experience of the learners. Why do we have to teach them how to solve problems? This is because, in this era we are not just making the learners learn the thoughts written in their books instead, we are teaching them to think beyond the letters they read or in more familiar term we are developing the learners higher order thinking skills. Another reason is that, its because we are preparing the learners for the future and for the changes and problems brought about by time.

REFLECT NO. 2 Let us deeply think on the roles of the different stake holders in the implementation of the curriculum. Situation: In one school, the parents got so involved that collectively, they interfered with the transfer of the classroom location because they have contributed so much to its improvement. The school authorities sustained a position that the school plant plan should be honored. The Parent Association has invested the improvement of the classrooms, but the schools administrations plan should be upheld. Anyway, the classes will be transferred to equally good classrooms that would enhance learning. Because of the schools decision, the parents threatened to pull out their children. If you are the principal of the school, how would you handle the situation? Reflection: How I wish in my first year in service I will not encounter such problem as worst as this. This situation could possibly happen in the real scenario, this is not really impossible. This may happen in any schools around since forever there are different persons involve in the school community. Conflicts between the different stakeholders may always arise. But in this case, I dont understand whats on the mind of those parents for making as big mountain as that out of that very small mole but since the problem came, we have to solve it no matter what especially if it already affects the rights of the children to learn. Problems like this should be solved promptly. Recommendation: My recommendation is base from my answer in the question if I were the principal, how would I handle the situation? In this case, for me it is better if we of course try to have conversation first with the parents, as the saying goes there are no conflicts that cant be solved by good conversations, as a principal he should explain the reasons behind the plan and the decision, if he is confident that his decision is better for the children then he has to stick with the plan while explaining it to the parents in a very pleasant way. If this doesnt work and they continue threatening the school, then leave them with their thoughts.

REFLECT NO 3 In the traditional approach to instruction, the teacher (a) presents the lesson to the class (b) assesses the students (through oral or written test) and (c) moves to the next lesson.

In a proposed mastery approach to instruction, the teacher (a) presents the lesson to the whole class (b) assesses if learners attained mastery of the lesson (c) provides enrichment activities with the use of media technology (d) re-mediates the non-mastery students (d) moves to the next lesson. How is the mastery approach better than the traditional one?

The mastery approach is better than the traditional approach in a sense that for me, this approach produces better and deeper learning from the learners. In mastery approach, there are activities that will enrich what they have acquired by the use of media technology which connotes active learning on the part of the learners. As I have understood also, the mastery approach gives more importance on the learners if whether they have mastered the lesson or not, and that is why I think it is called Mastery Approach. The mastery approach appears time consuming and difficult. Do you believe practice and experience can overcome these difficulties?

Yes, of course I believe. If I dont, its the same thing as saying that teachers have no chances of learning a better approach to learning. I also believe on the saying that experience is the best teacher, what more if it is accompanied with practice? If teachers continuously practice and make it a part of their everyday lesson, and learn from the experiences they had while having the lesson then there is no point of not learning and overcoming those difficulties. How can technology help in the enrichment activities?

As I have mentioned above, enrichment activities using media connotes better and easier learning on the part of the learners since there are more senses involve in the activity which means that the learners are more active. If the teacher uses media in the learners activities then there will have more associations formed by the learner. And that is how technology helps. Should the effective use of media be also assessed by the teacher? Why?

Yes, because it is for the teacher to know if that particular media helps in enriching the students learning because if not, he/she has to change the media that he/she is using. It is also really a must that the effectiveness of the media is assessed just like how we assess the different teaching methodologies that we use to be able to know when and where to use a particular media so that we are able to use it in its fullest potential.

The Role of Technology in Curriculum Delivery It can easily be observed that technological innovation in the multifarious fields of commerce, science and education, is fast developing such that it is difficult to foresee the technological revolution in the millennium, inclusive of educational changes. Three current trends that could carry on to the nature of education in the future: 1. Paradigm shift from teacher-centered to student-centered approach to learning. 2. Broadening realization that education is not simply a delivery of facts and information, but an educative process of cultivating the cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and much more the contemplative intelligence of the learners of a new age. 3.
