A Quick Introduction...
Greetings parents! Its my pleasure to be working with your children this year. I look forward to sharing my ideas with your children, and engaging them through the arts. Ive spent the last two years teaching Pre-K at St. Theresa, and the prior two years teaching at the Junior High in Weyburn. I am pleased to be part of this new community at St. Timothy, and look forward to building a relationship with your families. Additionally, I am here to support you, the parents! My door is always open. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or just want to say Hi! Each month you will receive a monthly newsletter from me, so please take the time to review it for important dates, and information. It is also important to check your child's backpack daily, as I will be sending notes home on upcoming events such as color day, special events, or Family Days.

Welcome to The Arts Ed. Corner

We have all made puppets as kids! Bag puppets, sock puppets, paper plate puppets-- and more! Make puppets but don't stop there! There are so many activities that can go along with making the puppets. You can have your children create an original play or adapt a favourite story book.

Remember, too--Children use puppets to say and do things that they may feel too inhibited to say or do themselves. Just as with all drama, you may be surprised when you see some of your 'shy children' doing well. They are NOT playing themselves, but playing someone else! Because of this there may be a comfort level that is not often achieved. If you don't have a puppet theater--MAKE ONE from a large box or cloth draped over a table. Then... PRODUCE, PRACATICE, PERFORM! Family Day We look forward to spending these special days together because of the wonderful friendships that are formed! For our first Family Day we will be staying here at St. Timothy. Stay posted for more information closer to the date. When: September 28th 10:00-11:00 a.m. group 1:30-2:30 p.m. group Where: St. Timothy I hope to see each one of you there!

Classroom website / Blog :)

Are you interested in what your children are doing at school? Do you often wish you could be a fly on the wall, and see your child in action? I have created a classroom website/ blog which will allow you to take a peak at what we were busy doing each day. There is also a kids corner, which includes interactive and educational theme based games for your child to play at home. What is the goal for this site? 1. To help you stay connected with your child, and ask more questions about their school day. 2. Keep track of important dates or upcoming events 3. Retrieve any misplaced forms from my online document folder Every comment that is posted, needs to be accepted by me before being published! There will be a consent form sent out to you in the near future, explaining the privacy settings that I have set out. Page 2

STORYTIME: Books on Family, Friends, and Self

Jonathan and his Mommy I Like Myself by David Catrow High on energy and imagination, this child encourages kids to appreciate everything about themselves--inside and out. Messy hair? Beaver breath? So what! Here's a little girl who knows what really matters. .
The Family Book by Todd Parr

Represents a variety of families, some big and some small, some with only one parent and some with two moms or dads, some quiet and some noisy, but all alike in some ways and special no matter what.
