Change Assistant File Deploy of File References
E-CA Change Assistant File Deploy of File References [ID 1363876.1] Modified 10-JAN-2012 In this Document Goal Solution References Type HOWTO Status PUBLISHED
Applies to:
PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version: 8.51 and later [Release: 8.4 and later ] Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
How does Change Assistant know where to deploy a File Reference for any environment? Where does that information come from?
Solution
PeopleTools has an object type called File Reference which can be viewed in Application Designer. Every file that is delivered has a file reference. The file reference object definition contains the following information: o - File Name & Path o - Database Platform o - Operating System o - PeopleSoft Server (App/batch/file/web) o - Unix Target Directory security settings. In a PeopleSoft environment, there may be five servers: Application Server, Batch Server (Process Scheduler), Database Server, File Server and Web Server. These may be installed on separate servers, on the same server, or some combination. There may be multiples of each. Each server, except for the database server, needs to have an EMAgent running on it. If one server is used for multiple roles (ie Application and Batch server) it needs only one agent.
When a Change Package is applied, the Agents will read the File Reference information coded into the Change Package project, and deploy each file according to those instructions.
