1. This lesson plan aims to teach clinical staff English words for body parts and organs through interactive demonstrations. 2. LESSON PLAN 2 Body parts, organs and functions

Target audience: clinical staff nurses and doctors Objectives: to learn English words for body parts and organs (20-40 new words) Time: 2 x 45 minutes Part 1: 1. Show different parts of your body and ask the audience to tell you the words in English or to repeat after you. Start with basic body parts (head, arm, hand, back, leg, foot), then go to more specific parts (shoulder, elbow, chest, stomach, buttocks, hip, thigh, knee, ankle). 2. Do the same for parts of the face start with the most basic words (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tooth/teeth), then move to specific ones (forehead, cheek, chin, jaw, lips, tongue, eyebrow etc.). 3. Include parts of the hand (wrist, palm, finger, fingernail). Depending on the level, you can include names of fingers (thumb, index, middle, ring, little). You can demonstrate the simple roles of the fingers in western culture (thumb well done; index point at something; middle very offensive; ring to wear a wedding ring). 4. Include parts of the foot (ankle, heel, sole, toes). 5. Reverse the roles tell the audience the name of the body part and ask them to show to the right part on their body. Part 2: 1. Do the revision of the Part 1. 2. Bring a large picture (poster or, if possible, a ppt presentation) of insight of the body. Show different organs on the picture and ask the audience to tell you the words in English or to repeat after you. Start with basic words (brain, heart, lungs, stomach, liver, kidney, bones, nerves, muscles, skin). Then, depending on the knowledge, move on to more difficult words (intestine small/large, genitals, bladder, pancreas, spleen, vessels arteries/veins, appendix, rectum etc.). 3. Include the 5 senses. Show on the body part and ask the audience what is its function (eyes look, watch; ears hear, listen; nose smell; tongue taste; fingers touch, feel) 4. Reverse the roles say the word and invite a member of the audience to show to the right organ on the poster you brought.
