Descriptive Statistics:: Question No 1 Part A

Descriptive statistics deals with summarizing and describing numerical data, while inferential statistics deals with making inferences about populations based on samples. The target population is the entire population being studied, such as all students in Punjab colleges and universities. The sample population is the subset from which the sample is drawn, such as 10 colleges/universities. The sample is a subset of the sample population, such as 100 students from the 10 colleges/universities. The mode of the frequency distribution data is 12.3.

QUESTION NO 1 PART A

Descriptive Statistics: It is the branch of statistics which deals with the concepts and method concerned with summarization and description of the Important aspects of numerical data. Inferential Statistics: It deals with the procedures for making inference about the characteristics that describe the large group of data or we whole called the population or from the knowledge derived from only the part of the data is called sample.
PART B Q1

Target Population: We can define it as: The population about which or from which we gather information is called Target Population.
e.g. the students of whole Punjab of the colleges and universities are the target population Q2

Sample Population: Sample population is that population from which sample is chosen. e.g the 10 colleges and universities from the whole Punjab are the sample population.
Q3 Sample:

We can define it as: It is a subset of a population. e.g. the 100 students from the 10 colleges and universities are sample.
PART C

Calculate the Mode of the following data.

Class Boundaries 1-5 5-10 10-15 15-20

Frequency 1 3 9 2

We have

l = 10 fm= 9 f1=3 f2=2 h= 5 So we have formula l + fm f1 * h (fm-f1) + (fm-f2) By putting the values: = 10 +9-3 *5 (9-3)+(9-2) = 10 +6 *5 6+7 = 10 +6 *5 13

= 10+ 30 13 =130 + 30 13 = 160 13 =12.3 answer
