What is air pollution?


Chemicals, particulate matter & biological

materials in the atmosphere. Pollutants can be solid, liquid or gas. Can be natural or man-made. Eg: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, CFC, Radioactive ways.

Sources of air pollution


Industries Automobiles &

domestic fuels Nuclear weapon, toxic gases, germ. Paints, smoke, dust, wildfire. Nuclear & thermal power plants.

Effects of air pollution

every year due to air pollution. Difficulty in breathing, coughing, premature death. Asthma, lungs problems. Can cause skin cancer, blood cancer.

Are the limits for levels of air pollution. To protect public health, vegetation and property. Industries have to conform to the standards.

Steps taken by Government


Use of natural gas ( for eg:

CNG) Industries should use pollution control devices. Govt. starting eco-friendly vehicles like metro rail. Industries should be set away from the residential area (for eg: factory shifted to narela) Planting more trees.
