How to Open Network Connections From the Task Manager

The Windows Task Manger is a very useful utility. You can monitor memory, processor, and page file performance as well as manage the currently running processes and services. In addition to monitoring performance and managing applications, the Task Manager can open programs and navigate to specific areas of Windows. Built into the Task Manger is the Windows Run box. This allows you to use all of the same Run commands in the Task Manager.

Instructions
Press "Ctrl + Alt + Del" to load Task Manager. You can also press the shortcut keys "Ctrl + Shift + Esc," or "Right-click" on your Windows Task Bar and select "Start Task Manager." Click "File," then "New Task (Run...)." Type "Ncpa.cpl" and press "Enter." You can also type "control net connections." Both commands take you to the Network Connections component of the Control Panel.

The Task Manager also lists your open programs and network connection information. The Task Manager allows you to monitor your current computer usage and is useful when you want to close unresponsive programs and software. You can open the Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar and selecting the Task Manager from the menu, according to Microsoft. You can also open the Task Manager with a DOS command prompt.

Instructions
Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar to open the Start menu. Click Run to open a Run Dialog if you are using Microsoft Windows XP. Type commands directly into the "Search" bar located on the Start menu if you are running Windows Vista or 7. Type Cmd.exe into the Run prompt or Start menu search bar. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to launch a DOS command prompt. Type Taskmgr or Taskmgr.exe into the command prompt window. Press the Enter key to open the Windows Task Manager from the DOS command prompt.
