The document discusses computer graphics and their applications. Computer graphics are images created using computers with specialized software and hardware. Typical graphics systems include computers, display and input devices, and interfacing hardware. Computer graphics are used for scientific visualization, multimedia, simulation, virtual reality, CAD/CAM design, education, business publishing, and more. Common graphical components include icons, buttons, menus. Graphics standards and packages include GKS, PHIGS, OpenGL, and X11-based systems. Computer graphics can be implemented on operating systems like DOS, Windows, Linux, OS/2, and others. Common graphical primitives include polylines, polygons, ellipses, text, and raster images.
