San Diego Tet Festival: In Vietnamese culture, Tet is the celebration of the Lunar New Year and in San Diego, the party lasts for three days. This year’s San Diego Tet Festival will be held at Liberty Station. The free event starts with the Miss Vietnam Pageant, Vietnamese food, music, vendors, lion dances and a cultural village. The 20th annual festival is expected to attract 30,000 attendees, according to event organizers. 5 to 10 p.m. Friday. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.  11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Free admission for seniors: Guests 65 years and older can obtain free admission to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park throughout February. Entry includes the Africa Tram and all regularly scheduled experiences. The park is home to over 3,000 animals on 1,800 acres of land. Some of the animals at the park include giraffes, rhinos, tigers, platypuses, and elephants. For free entry, seniors must present a valid identification. Parking is not included and special experiences may require extra fees. Seniors can visit multiple times during February. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Padres FanFest: Fans can get up-close access to players, coaches and the Petco Park field at this annual event celebrating supporters of the Padres. Expect autograph signings and Q&A sessions and fans can hang out in Gallagher Square, see progress of Western Metal Building renovations and tour the grounds crew’s garage. Photo classes: George’s Camera is hosting two photography workshops. The first is a $65 Photography 101 class where visitors will learn basic camera functions, camera support, tricks and how to care for a camera. The second workshop is free and teaches photographers how to enter the San Diego County Fair’s photo exhibition. 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Ballet Folklorico: Academia de Danza Folklorica Mexicana Ti-Pai is performing two shows at Joan B. Kroc Theatre. The group has 10 years of experience highlighting Mexican folk ballet and traditional dances. The artists and dancers are led by Eduardo Romero and artistic director Mariana Perezchica. 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Joan B. Camarada’s ‘What’s Your Handel?’ Soprano Tasha Koontz joins the Camarada chamber ensemble for works by Handel, Villa Lobos and Del Mar’s Jordan Kuspa. ‘Women in Focus’ exhibit opens Saturday: MOPA@SDMA presents this historical exhibition examining women’s role in establishing photography as an artistic medium in the 19th and early 20th centuries featuring images from San Diego Museum of Arts permanent collection. Japanese festival: The Japanese Friendship Garden and Museum is celebrating Setsubun with an all-day event. Setsubun is a Japanese festival marking the end of winter and the start of spring. The event will occur inside the garden’s gates. Activities include creating masks, Mamemaki (a bean tossing event), lion dances, sumo performances and storytelling.
