Ten arrested in large-scale garda operation in Cork

A total of ten people have been arrested during a large-scale garda operation in Cork targeting those suspected of drug and theft offences.

Gardaí seized an imitation firearm along with €4,500 in cash, approximately €4,000 in cocaine, over €7,200 in Alzaprolam tablets, a small quantity of cannabis herb, a number of Rolex watches, a range of power tools and a new caravan over the course of the operation.

The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Gardaí from several units in Cork city and county were joined by Garda Armed Support, the Garda Dog Unit and the Garda Stolen Vehicle Unit for the planned interdivisional operation this morning.

Gardaí said that ten people were arrested for a number of offences including public order offences and theft and fraud offences.

All ten individuals arrested are due to appear before the courts.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
