Podcast: Missing McGahon and following the leaders

After a late night of backstage chats on RTÉ's General Election podcast Behind the Ballot, David McCullagh is joined by Paul Cunningham to analyse a lively 24 hours.

One person they've been wondering about is Fine Gael's Louth candidate John McGahon, who has not been seen since The Sunday Times published footage of the incident at the centre of his court case.

The pair were also joined by the 'Follow the Leader’ reporters Evelyn O'Rourke, Tommy Meskill, and Samantha Libreri, who have been watching Simon Harris, Micheál Martin, and Mary Lou McDonald’s every move since the election was called.

They go through what it’s been like on the road, how each has been received, while they also look at the ins and outs Sinn Féin’s manifesto which was launched today.

And, reflecting further on their co-host Katie Hannon’s ten-way debate on Upfront on Monday, they go through the viewing figures to see if they give any clues as to whether the public is engaged in this race for Oireachtas.

All this and more can be heard on RTÉ's Behind the Ballot, which is available on all major podcast sites.

You can find it on Spotify here, on Apple podcasts here, or on the RTE website here.
