Royals announce ALDS roster

Jonny Gomes is a notable omission

The Royals have announced their post-season roster for the American League Divisional Series against Houston. They are:

Catchers (2): Drew Butera, Salvador Perez

Infielders (6): Christian Colon, Alcides Escobar, Eric Hosmer, Kendrys Morales, Mike Moustakas, Ben Zobrist

Outfielders (6): Lorenzo Cain, Jarrod Dyson, Alex Gordon, Terrance Gore, Paulo Orlando, Alex Rios

Starting pitchers (4): Johnny Cueto, Kris Medlen, Yordano Ventura, Edinson Volquez

Relief pitchers (7): Wade Davis, Danny Duffy, Kelvin Herrera, Luke Hochevar, Ryan Madson, Franklin Morales, Chris Young

Jonny Gomes is a notable omission. Despite hitting .227/.371/.412 against left-handers this year, the Royals did not feel the need to keep Gomes, instead opting to carry Paulo Orlando and pinch-runner extraordinaire Terrance Gore.

The Royals can change their post-season roster for the American League Championship Series, should they make it. Anyone that was in the organization on August 30 is eligible to be on the post-season roster.
