How we collect information
Resonate collects information from you via our Website when you voluntarily submit a request, such as a salesperson contact request or a white paper download. The information we collect may include your contact information, such as your email address, and your browser type and IP address. We use this information to provide customer support, market relevant products and services, and improve our Website.
Purposes of data collected

Information Security
Resonate has implemented reasonable security measures to help protect the information it collects in an effort to prevent loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Data collected in the past 12 months

OUR RESONATE DATA, TECHNOLOGY, PRODUCTS & SERVICES
This Services Privacy Policy below describes our privacy practices for the information we collect, use, and share in association with our products and services.
How Resonate collects your data
Resonate collects data through two methods:
- Survey Data. Resonate conducts surveys to gather information about consumer attitudes, values, brand preferences, product attributes, demographics, and other defining characteristics. These surveys are conducted online and are subject to a double opt-in process, meaning that you must explicitly agree to the terms of the survey to participate in the survey and for Resonate to collect, use, and process the survey data for the use in development of the Resonate Services.
- Licensed Consumer Data: Resonate obtains licensed consumer data from third-party data providers to develop consumer profiles. This licensed consumer data encompasses a range of online and offline consumer activity, including IP address, information about a consumer’s web browsing including URLs from a consumer’s website visits, demographics (such as age, gender, and geographic area), and digital identifiers such as cookie IDs, hashed emails, mobile ad id, and other pseudonymous identifiers such as UID 2.0 and Ramp ID . Resonate does not collect personal information such as name, address, Social Security number or credit card information as part of this licensed consumer data.
How Resonate uses, sells and shares your data
Resonate uses the data it collects for a variety of purposes, including:
- Research and development: Resonate uses the survey data to improve its products and services. For example, Resonate might use survey data to identify new features that consumers are interested in or to improve the accuracy of its ad targeting.
- Consumer Profile Development: Resonate uses the licensed consumer data combined with survey results to create inferences about consumers which are then processed to build Resonate’s consumer attributes. Resonate then sells and/or shares to its clients the consumer attributes data included within the Resonate Audience Segments.
- Aggregate Consumer Insights: Resonate’s clients may use the Resonate Audience Segments to define their own audience profiles and consumer personas in order to gain a better understanding of their selected audience through aggregate insight reports. For instance, through the use of Resonate Audience Segments, an automotive company may define an audience of safety-conscious shoppers who drive sedans Resonate offers an aggregate understanding of this audience through reports powered by Resonate consumer attributes to help our clients identify buying preferences, brand affinity, and media consumption, thereby facilitating more relevant advertising.
- Targeted advertising: Resonate facilitates its clients’ targeted advertising as clients use the consumer data associated with Resonate Audience Segments to target their advertising more effectively. Using the Resonate platform, an audience segment can be sent a digital advertising platform for online targeting or delivered directly to the client for analysis. For example, a client might use the consumer data associated with Resonate Audience Segments to show ads for a new car to consumers who are safety conscious.
- Analytics: Resonate uses the data to track the site visitation or the effectiveness of its client’s marketing campaigns. For example, Resonate might use data to track how many clicks on an ad or how many purchases after seeing an ad.
- Aggregate Information (De-Identified Data): We may anonymize, de-identify and/or aggregate the information that we collect and use such anonymized, de-identified and/or aggregated data for our own business purposes, including but not limited to sharing anonymized and de-identified data with our current and prospective business partners, service providers, affiliates, agents and other third parties for commercial, statistical and market research purposes, for example to allow those parties to analyze patterns among groups of people, and conducting research on consumer demographics, interests and behavior. We will use and disclose this aggregated or de-identified information for any purpose unless such use is prohibited by applicable law.
- Data analysis, security, and fraud: We use Personal Information and other data for data analysis, security and fraud monitoring and prevention, product development and testing, improving or modifying our Services, analyzing website traffic patterns and behaviors, and statistical and survey purposes.
Information We Collect
Personal Information we may collect (or have collected in the 12 months preceding the “Effective Date” of this Privacy Policy) about California and other US states residents with applicable privacy laws are listed below by reference to the categories specified under Examples in the list refer to the types of Personal Information described above in this Services Privacy Policy.
- Identifiers, such as cookie ID, unique online identifiers, device information, hashed email, IP address, connected television ID, and mobile advertising ID.
- Commercial information, such as records of products or services purchased, obtained or considered.

Sources of Information
We collected this information from a variety of sources, which are from consumers, our clients, web browsers, service providers, advertising networks, and other consumer data resellers.
How We Use, Sell & Share Information
Resonate may sell your Personal Information to third parties or process your Personal Information for targeted advertising. For example, when Resonate provides our clients with tailored audience segments that include lists of pseudonymous IDs of consumers who may be interested in the client’s products and services. Resonate sells and/or processes personal information for targeted advertising in the manner described throughout this Services Privacy Policy. We used this information for various commercial and business purposes, including:
- Advertising and marketing analytics products and services
- Audience measurement
- User authentication and identity resolution
- Auditing related to our interactions
- Legal compliance
- Detecting and protecting against security incidents, fraud, and illegal activity
- Debugging
- Internal research for technological improvement
- Activities to maintain and improve our products and services
Categories of Third Parties
Resonate may disclose or sell the categories of information with certain categories of third parties, such as advertising networks, advertising agencies and marketing companies, social networks, analytics providers, service providers such as data hosting providers, optimization vendors, and document hosting and support services providers, and consumer data resellers. All such third parties perform services at our instruction and on our behalf pursuant to contracts, which require they provide at least the same level of privacy protection required by this Privacy Policy and implemented by Resonate.
How long Resonate keeps your data
Resonate retains data for the least amount of time required to perform our functions.
As a data controller, to operate the services for our clients, Resonate retains detailed data collected for 120 days and in an aggregate, anonymized fashion for up to two years. After that time, the data is automatically deleted.
As data processor, where clients are providing data to Resonate for analysis, that data is retained for up to two years at which time it is automatically deleted.
Special or Sensitive Categories of Personal Data:
Resonate does not knowingly collect, without prior opt-in from consumers through our survey double opt-in process, any special categories of personal data about individuals in applicable US States of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut or similar “Sensitive Opt-In US States” including: personal data revealing your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership; personal data concerning your mental or physical health condition or diagnosis, sex life, or sexual orientation; processing of genetic or biometric data; citizenship or immigration status and precise geolocation data. Resonate also does not collect any data about other sensitive categories such as personal data about financial account numbers, insurance plan numbers, and criminal convictions or offenses.
Where NOT considered sensitive in accordance with applicable law outside applicable Sensitive Opt-In US States Resonate use personal data to create segments (“Segments”) for our clients to use in the following ways:
- Our clients may use health-related Segments about general health and wellness conditions such as an inferred interest in health and wellness or non-prescription over the counter cough medicine and allergy medications.
- Our clients may use Segments based on political information or interests based on non-sensitive demographic information as further explained below.
Resonate may process Segments based on demographic information such as race, gender and income range where such information is not considered sensitive pursuant to applicable law. We take steps designed to ensure that this is done in compliance with applicable laws and self-regulatory guidelines, including through our contracts and policies with our clients and partners.
CONSUMER CHOICE
This section details how you can control the collection and use of data by Resonate. You can control the data Resonate collects about you by:

- Identity Codes: We may use an online identification code, generated by one of our first party identity partners, for the purpose of delivering an ad to your device. We use this code to enable our delivery and management of targeted advertising as well as for data linking and the measurement of ad performance.
