My favorite poem about politics is one I learned during the 1976 presidential campaign. It consists of one line, four syllables, two words: “Gimme Jimmy!”

I guess that captures the spirit of the time more than anything else. Another meme (back before they called it that) was a bit more irreverent, but I still chuckle whenever I think about it.
