Active Funds

Every year, Texans struggle to rebound, recover, and resume life following devastating events of the Atlantic hurricane season. The Texas Hurricane Recovery Fund is a perpetual fund, providing grant funding for the relief and recovery of Texas communities in the wake of the annual season’s events.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all Texans – but has disproportionately impacted communities of color and our most vulnerable and underserved citizens. Texas COVID Relief Fund provided funding to organizations supporting these populations through project and operational grants to fund urgent needs in the areas of health, education, and community development.

How We Work

Rebuild Texas Fund works with local leaders, community funders, and recovery organizations to identify community-driven priorities, unmet needs, and funding gaps in impacted communities. We provide critical dollars, expert advice and access to our expansive statewide network of private sector, nonprofit, and foundation partners to jumpstart community recovery and help disaster survivors rebuild Texas Strong.

Our History

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas damaging or destroying more than 194,000 homes and leaving behind over $150 billion in damages making it the second most costly hurricane in U.S. history. In response to the devastation, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation teamed up with OneStar to launch the Rebuild Texas Fund. With the support of more than 33,000 corporate and individual donors, the Rebuild Texas Fund raised and invested $100 million in impacted communities helping more than 2.1 million Texans rebuild their lives.

Endorsed by the Office of the Governor, the Rebuild Texas Fund now serves as the official disaster fund for the State of Texas and has supported numerous communities in response to some of the most devastating disasters in our state’s history including Hurricane Harvey, COVID-19, and the Uvalde school shooting.

We are so grateful for the Rebuild Texas Fund’s dedication and passion for rebuilding and revitalizing communities... Without them, the recovery of our community might have taken as long as 10 years. Their involvement, from the initial relief stages to ongoing rebuilding efforts, has touched our residents’ lives in countless ways.
